The Leelanau Historical Society kicked off its season with a reception for its membership on June 28th. The opening of the new exhibit featuring maps and roads of Leelanau County provided an interesting background for the festivities and guests were also treated to the premier of the a short film “This Basket is My Ancestor” which showcases traditional Anishinaabek artistry. The Wheeler family members who provided the funding for this project were honored during the presentation along with project manager, Laura Quackenbush, tribal elder, Hank Bailey, and filmmaker Rich Brauer.
Many thanks to Presidents Tom and Cathy Reahard who, once again sponsored this wonderful evening!
We proudly invite you to visit the museum and view both new features!
